<description>Glad to hear it, I&#039;d love to see a tighter cooperation between Connexions &amp; Plone, especially related to the PloneEdu efforts.</description>

		<description>Hi Alexander

I totally agree, I should have stressed more that it is not correct to attribute the performance issue generically to the use of Plone. The Connexions code base is released as the Rhaptos project (rhaptos.org) and, as of this year, we&#039;re trying to raise awareness amongst more of the Plone community to try to benefit from their experience and expertise. Hopefully, we&#039;ll be able to present something on Rhaptos in Bristol later this year.

Rhaptos is currently using 2.5, a move to a more recent version would require a little more manpower than we currently have available to us but hopefully we can build a stronger community around Rhaptos to help make that happen.

Cheers

		<description>Hi,

It seems that a lot of the slowdown is in the app-specific code here — but you should also be aware that Plone 4 (which is close to release at the time of writing) has done a tremendous amount of work on the performance side of things. Especially around handling large files and reducing memory use.

I&#039;m not sure which version of Plone the Connexions stack is built on top of, but I&#039;d also recommend updating it to run on a modern version of Plone to get support for a faster version of Python, etc.
